The union representing 1,300 employees at Airbus Canada has announced the ratification of a new five-year contract. The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers revealed that 77% of workers voted in favor of the agreement, which incorporates adjustments proposed by a conciliator.

This contract applies to workers in Quebec who are involved in assembling the A220 aircraft, previously known as the C Series under Bombardier Inc.

The terms of the new five-year agreement include wage increases of eight percent in the first year, followed by increments of three percent in the second year, and four percent in each of the subsequent three years. Additionally, the agreement encompasses enhancements to a group insurance plan, shift premiums, vacation policies, and pensions.

This resolution follows the rejection of two previous offers from the company, as well as a tentative deal put forward last month. The ratification of this agreement alleviates concerns regarding a potential lockout, as management had announced plans for such action on Thursday if the employees failed to approve the deal.
