On his first Canada Day as prime minister, Mark Carney delivered a powerful video speech centered on unity. He spoke about the importance of standing together as one country during difficult times and reminded Canadians of the strength that comes from working together.

Looking Back at Canada's Roots

Carney began by reflecting on the birth of Canada. He said that 158 years ago, a few provinces took a chance by forming a union. They believed they would be stronger together than on their own. Carney noted that they were right. That decision led to the creation of a bilingual, multicultural, and confident country.

Partnership With Indigenous Peoples

Carney spoke about building a better future with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. He said Canada must write its next chapter in true partnership with them. He stressed that all Canadians need to be part of that journey.

Acknowledging Current Challenges

In his message, Carney didn’t ignore the problems facing the country. He said the world is changing fast. He mentioned the breakdown of old alliances, the economic problems caused by a trade crisis, and threats to democracy and freedom.

Despite these challenges, Carney said he has seen Canadians come together. He said they’ve united in a world that feels more divided and dangerous than before. That unity, he believes, will help Canada move forward.

Economic Plan for a Stronger Future

Carney also pointed to his plan for a united Canadian economy. He said it would help the country deal with growing uncertainty. A strong and fair economy, he explained, is key to keeping the country stable during global changes.

A Nation That Acts, Not Just Speaks

Carney ended his speech on a hopeful note. He said, “This is the greatest nation on Earth. Our destiny is to make it even greater, not by what we say, but by what we do.”

He closed with a clear message of pride and action, wishing everyone a happy Canada Day.
