Police in Windsor, Ontario, have arrested three teenagers after more than 70 parked vehicles were vandalized in several parts of the city over the past month.

Officers say the string of incidents took place on four separate dates between September 9 and October 1. During that time, several cars were not only damaged but also broken into, with personal items reported stolen from some vehicles.

In one case, a stolen credit card from a damaged car was later used to make several purchases at local businesses, police said.

Three Suspects Turn Themselves In

On October 4, two 19-year-old suspects went to Windsor Police Headquarters and turned themselves in. A day later, an 18-year-old suspect also surrendered to police.

All three face multiple criminal charges connected to the vandalism and thefts. Police confirmed that the teens are believed to be linked to all four incidents involving the damaged vehicles.

Investigators did not release the names of the accused but said they worked quickly to identify and locate the individuals involved. The arrests come after weeks of community frustration and reports of widespread property damage.

Over 120 Criminal Charges Laid

According to police, officers have laid 126 charges in total. The charges include:

  • Mischief under $5,000
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Fraud under $5,000
  • Wearing a mask with intent to commit an offence
  • Possession of break-in tools
  • Possession of stolen property
  • Using a stolen credit card
  • Failing to comply with a release order

Police said the wide range of charges reflects the scope of the damage and thefts that took place. Each damaged vehicle is being counted as part of the total mischief offences.

Police Thank Public for Assistance

Investigators thanked residents who came forward with surveillance footage and information that helped track the suspects. Police say community tips and video from doorbell cameras played a major role in solving the case.

The investigation remains ongoing, as officers continue reviewing security footage and checking for additional victims who may not yet have filed reports.

Windsor Police are urging anyone whose car was damaged or broken into during September or early October to contact their office. They also reminded residents to remove valuables from vehicles and report suspicious activity immediately.

Community Shocked by Damage

The incidents left many Windsor residents frustrated and concerned about neighbourhood safety. Dozens of car owners discovered broken windows, smashed mirrors, and damaged locks. Police have increased patrols in affected areas to reassure residents and prevent similar crimes.

Authorities say this case serves as a reminder of how teamwork between the police and public can lead to quick arrests and safer communities.
