Blue Ivy Carter, daughter of music icons Beyoncé and Jay-Z, made her Met Gala debut in New York City, stunning the crowd with her fashion-forward style. At just 14 years old, she turned heads in a white strapless Balenciaga gown with a bunched skirt and flowing train. Adding a zip-up jacket with an oversized collar, sparkling silver heels, a diamond necklace, and black sunglasses, Blue Ivy resembled her famous mother, especially with her hair styled in tight curls, reminiscent of Beyoncé’s 2016 Lemonade era.
A Family Affair at the Met Gala
Blue Ivy was accompanied by her parents, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, who were visibly proud as their daughter graced the prestigious event. Beyoncé, who co-chaired the Met Gala alongside Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour, wore an eye-catching skeleton-inspired crystal gown by Olivier Rousteing, featuring sheer paneling. She added a dramatic feathered cape and a crystal headpiece to complete her look, with her long blonde hair flowing in glamorous waves.
Beyoncé, in her first Met Gala appearance in a decade, expressed her joy about sharing the moment with Blue Ivy. “It feels surreal because my daughter’s here. She looks so beautiful,” she told Vogue. Her excitement about Blue Ivy’s debut was palpable, as she praised her daughter’s style and presence at the iconic event.
Breaking Met Gala Rules: Blue Ivy's Special Moment
While the Met Gala typically only invites attendees 18 years or older, exceptions are made for minors who attend with their parents. Alongside Beyoncé and Blue Ivy, Nicole Kidman also brought her 17-year-old daughter, Sunday Rose, to the event, marking another rare appearance of younger stars at the prestigious gathering.

Blue Ivy’s Journey to Stardom
Blue Ivy’s Met Gala appearance marks a significant milestone in her budding career. She has already made waves by performing during Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour in 2025 and working as a dancer on the Renaissance Tour. Despite some early criticism of her performances, Blue Ivy’s determination and hard work have earned her recognition in the entertainment world.
Jay-Z, speaking to GQ, shared how he saw Blue Ivy fight for her place on stage. He noted that, at first, she was simply “going through the motions,” but she soon found her passion, fighting to improve her performance. “She fought for it,” Jay-Z said. “She’s almost on every number now.”
Beyoncé also reflected on her daughter’s growth, admitting that while she was initially hesitant about putting Blue Ivy on stage due to potential backlash, her daughter’s own determination made her change her mind. “Blue wanted it for herself,” Beyoncé explained. “She took it seriously, and she earned it. And most importantly, she had fun!”
