Dolly Parton has called off her much-anticipated Las Vegas residency, citing ongoing health concerns that require more recovery time. The country legend shared the update through a heartfelt video on social media, offering both reassurance and honesty about her current condition.
At 80, Parton remains as candid and warm as ever. While she told fans she’s “improving every day,” she admitted she’s still not fit enough to return to the stage just yet.
Health Comes First
In her message, Parton explained that her immune and digestive systems have been struggling over the past couple of years. Although she’s making steady progress, the treatments and medications have left her feeling lightheaded at times.
With her signature humor, she described feeling “a little swimmy-headed,” borrowing a phrase from her grandmother. She even joked about the challenges of performing under such conditions—balancing high heels, carrying instruments, and wearing her iconic rhinestone outfits wouldn’t be easy while dealing with dizziness.
Despite the setback, her tone remained optimistic. She made it clear that this is a pause, not a goodbye.
A Journey of Recovery
This isn’t the first time health concerns have interrupted her plans. Back in 2025, Parton had already postponed the residency due to medical issues. At the time, concerns grew among fans after her sister asked for prayers, but Parton quickly reassured everyone with her trademark wit.
“I ain’t dead yet!” she had said, putting rumors to rest. She later clarified that she was undergoing treatment for kidney stones and emphasized that her condition was not life-threatening.
Now, while the situation still isn’t critical, it’s serious enough to keep her off the stage for longer than expected.
Vegas Residency Called Off
The now-cancelled residency was scheduled to take place from September 17 to September 26, 2026, and had generated significant excitement among fans eager to see the music icon perform live in Las Vegas.
For now, those plans are on hold indefinitely. However, Parton’s message carried a sense of reassurance—she’s healing, and she intends to return when she’s ready.
A Message to Fans
Parton closed her update with gratitude, thanking her fans for their unwavering support over the past year. She acknowledged their concern and encouragement, calling it a source of strength during her recovery.
“I’ve still got some healing to do, but I am on my way,” she shared, promising to see her audience again soon.
For an artist whose career has spanned decades, this moment reflects not just resilience but also the importance of stepping back when needed. Fans, while disappointed, are likely to stand by her—just as they always have.
