Police are investigating after human remains were discovered by two hikers in Shannon Falls Provincial Park, located in the Sea to Sky region of British Columbia. The hikers stumbled upon the remains on April 24, 2026, while exploring the park. The find has prompted a thorough investigation by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and local authorities.

Search and Recovery Operation

After making the discovery, the hikers immediately notified the authorities. Squamish RCMP, alongside the local search and rescue team, responded to the scene the following day. The remote location of the remains presented some challenges, but the search and recovery operation was carried out successfully. The authorities were able to recover the remains and bring them back for further examination.

Ongoing Investigation with Coroners’ Help

The RCMP has confirmed that they are working closely with the provincial coroners to determine the circumstances surrounding the discovery. They are also focused on identifying the remains. While no foul play is suspected at this point, authorities have not released further details about the case.

Public Safety and Further Details

At this stage, investigators have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to safety. No indications of criminal activity have been uncovered during the investigation. However, as the investigation continues, police have kept other details under wraps, likely to preserve the integrity of the inquiry.
